De la oscuridad abisal, cósmica,
en la que se gestan los rebeldes mares
Aquellos que sueñan con los colores del sol.
Entre ondas y corrientes rítmicas,
emergen las nuevas posibilidades y ascienden,
inevitables, por los caminos del cielo.
INSPIRACIÓN
Los hay que ya afirman que las algas constituirán una auténtica revolución, no solo alimentaria sino también ecológica. Pues su impacto tanto en la salud dietética y la crisis alimentaria mundial, así como en en el cambio climático ha sido señalado ya por numerosos estudios científicos como un influencia positiva y necesaria.
Por un lado las algas son una fuente natural y muy rica de vitaminas y minerales esenciales para el ser humano, además de contener altas cantidades de proteína, fibra y antioxidantes. Esto repercute muy positivamente en la salud, contrarrestando y mejorando multitud de patologías derivadas de nuestro estilo de vida occidental.
La OMS ha llegado incluso a afirmar que podría eliminarse el hambre en el mundo con la producción y distribución de algas como la espirulina o la chlorella.
Por otro, las algas absorben gran cantidad de dióxido de carbono y al ser incluidas en los piensos de animales evitan en gran medida la producción de metano por estos, contribuyendo positivamente a reducir los gases invernadero.
Hace poco, revisando una de sus muchas cajas llenas de lo que Fabi denomina `pequeños tesoros´, casi todo objetos de la naturaleza, descubrió un sobre lleno de algas desecadas que Fabi recogió cuando yo—David—tenía 5 años. La investigación que llevo a cabo después acerca de las algas en general y el afortunado comentario de una persona que nos sigue en redes sociales y que amablemente nos indico el tipo de alga que Fabi tenía guardada: Padina Pavonica; inspiró a Fabi para llevar a cabo el siguiente trabajo.
OBRA
Se trata de ocho piezas de arcilla polimérica, concretamente ocho broches. Con dos diseños diferentes basados en el color y la forma del alga marina Padina Pavonica, que frecuenta las cálidas aguas del atlántico y que tienen un uso en cosmética como producto anti edad.
Por un lado tenemos el diseño del alga en color sobre un fondo negro con terminaciones en forma de tentáculo. Y por otro el mismo alga, en círculos concéntricos de color con una base negra más sutil.
El hecho de que estas piezas sean broches las convierten en un complemento perfecto para combinar con nuestra ropa favorita, ofreciendo gracias a su color y forma innumerables posibilidades dentro del mundo de la moda.
La realización de estas piezas consiste en una técnica específica que requiere práctica. Como todo el trabajo de Fabi, es sencilla pero compleja al mismo tiempo y lo mejor de todo es que no solo tiene múltiples aplicaciones sino que además nos permite reutilizar y aprovechar arcilla polimérica ya usada 😉

INSPIRATION
There are those who already say that algae will be a real revolution, not only food but also ecological. For its impact on both dietary health and the global food crisis, as well as on climate change has already been pointed out by numerous scientific studies as a positive and necessary influence.
On the one hand, algae are a natural and very rich source of vitamins and minerals essential for humans, in addition to containing high amounts of protein, fiber and antioxidants. This has a very positive impact on health, counteracting and improving a multitude of pathologies derived from our Western lifestyle.
The WHO has even gone so far as to say that hunger could be eliminated in the world with the production and distribution of algae such as spirulina or chlorella.
On the other hand, algae absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide and when included in animal feed greatly prevent the production of methane by animals, contributing positively to reducing greenhouse gases.
Recently, checking one of his many boxes filled with what Fabi calls 'little treasures', almost all of nature's objects, he discovered an envelope full of dried algae that Fabi picked up when I—David—was 5 years old. The research I carried out afterwards about algae in general and the lucky comment of a person who follows us on social media and who kindly indicated the type of seaweed that Fabi had stored: Padina Pavonica; inspired Fabi to carry out the following artwork.
ARTWORK
Eight pieces of polymer clay, specifically, brooches. With two different designs based on the color and shape of the seaplant Padina Pavonica, which frequents the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean and which have a use in cosmetics as an anti-aging product.
On the one hand we have the design of the seaplant in color on a black background with tentacle-shaped finishes. And on the other the same algae, in concentric circles of color with a more subtle black base.
The fact that these pieces are brooches make them a perfect complement to combine with our favorite clothes, offering thanks to their color and shape, countless possibilities within the world of fashion.
The realization of these pieces consists of a specific technique that requires practice. Like all Fabi's work, it is simple but complex at the same time and best of all, it not only has multiple applications but also allows us to reuse and take advantage of polymer clay leftovers. 😉
