 Ideas Lab

Australia and its nature have left in me an indelible mark that today remains a source of inspiration for my artistic work. After experimenting in recent weeks with different colors, textures and papers I have created from scratch—blank paper—through a process (still secret) a whole recipe book of totally original sheets that will serve as support for different drawings, with very varied motifs. The final drawing depends a lot on what each sheet inspires me, it is a difficult work, taking as reference the colors and textures of the original sheet I let myself take by the imagination and I end up creating something appropriate .

Examples shown in the photos: Trees, corals... I used very simple materiales for drawings, colored pencils, markers (white-black-sepia) and wax, nothing else.

As you can see, in the case of coral I have used authentic samples that I collected on the beaches of Perth and Geraldton. I really enjoyed walking the beaches walking barefoot and discovering buried in the sand little treasures that the waves were unfolding as if they were gifts that the sea gave me. Australia is full of treasures!

This type of work inspires me to then try to capture some of the ideas that suggest me in polymer clay. Even to carry out projects that combine different materials and supports such as Mixed Media. So I hope to develop very soon new techniques inspired by the fabulous Australian nature and share them with all of you.

Yo me quedo en casa!

YO ME QUEDO EN CASA

 Hola a tod@s

STAYING AT HOME

Hi!

It has been a long time without publishing and the current pandemic situation we are living didn't help actually. Sorry for my absence on social media. Many of you have written to me interested in my state of health and my family, thank you for your words of encouragement! Fortunately, we are all well despite the fact that in Spain and specifically in the capital, Madrid, the situation is particularly complicated.

I imagine that many of you will be going through more or less difficult situations, so we wanted to send you all our encouragement hoping that this will happen soon and we can return to our daily lives.

However, despite of the stress and uncertainty of the situation so strange for everybody, the truth is that this month of confinement has served me to rest from the different trips and recover both physically and mentally, allowing me to work on new ideas and projects. I've taken advantage of these days of confinement to experiment with new materials and practice different techniques, and the truth is, I've had a lot of fun! I needed to stop and move away from the world whose rhythm is sometimes too fast for artistic inspiration.

In addition, as some of you know I have a new atelier in my own house, where I will carry out, I hope soon, classes. So I've also invested time in decorating and painting the space to my liking. I'll be uploading pictures soon!

If I've got a positive part of all this, I'm sure you all can too! Leave your comments with those things that you think have been or are being beneficial within this situation of abnormality below.

If you also have the opportunity to connect with yourselves and unleash your imagination, artistic creation is guaranteed.

I hope this is an opportunity to rest, clean and refresh your mind and body just as planet earth and the natural environment is doing; and that the return is full of artistic surprises and awareness of the world so fantastic that we have 'out there' that it is our duty to take care of.

Is there better inspiration than the beauty that comes from nature?

Kisses everyone from Madrid

See you soon!

Fabi & David
