¡¡Por fin podemos compartir con vosotros nuestra fantástica experiencia en Australia!! 🥳
Mi hijo y yo fuimos invitados al evento Polymer Clay Carnival en Fremantle (En Australia Occidental) del 16 al 18 de agosto; organizado por las encantadoras así como trabajadoras Suzanne Ward y Susannah Ward, propietarias de la empresa -2Wards Polymer Clay-https://www.facebook.com/2wardspolymerclay/
Nos alojamos en el Rydges Esplanade Hotel, un bonito hotel de aspecto clásico e interior moderno frente a un hermoso parque con una gran noria desde la que se podían ver las vistas del puerto y las playas de Fremantle mientras respirábamos un poco de aire marino fresco desde proveniente del Océano Indico así como sentir lo remoto de este increíble país.
El evento de tres días se celebró en dos enormes salas de conferencias dentro del hotel que habían sido unidas especialmente para la ocasión, por lo que había espacio suficiente para que todos los artistas enseñáramos a la vez, al mismo tiempo que disponíamos también de una tienda cortesía de Suzzane y Suzzie donde se podía encontrar cualquier producto relacionado con el arte y las manualidades.
Hubo un catering que cubrió todo el evento para que profesores y asistentes nunca se quedaran sin café, té y pequeños snacks dulces y salados que ayudaron a recuperar energías para poder seguir trabajando y aprendiendo durante todo el día.
Era la primera vez que se celebraba un evento como este en Australia Occidental, así que la gente estaba muy feliz de estar allí y poder compartir dicha experiencia. ¿Os imagináis la emoción de tener artistas no sólo de Australia, sino también de otros países todos en un mismo lugar? ¡Y yo, la única española! Me siento afortunada de haber podido estar allí 😁
Estuve enseñando tres técnicas diferentes que requerían distintas marcas de arcilla polimérica debido a la esencia de cada una, acompañada de mi hijo que me ayudó con la traducción y durante las clases (¡También se encargó de hacer el vídeo!):
Centrada en la importancia del color y el diseño. Usamos arcilla Premo debido a los colores.
Acerca de la naturaleza y la temporada de otoño. Arcilla Cernit debido a la flexibilidad.
Aquello que me inspira y el sentimiento que me evoca la música . Usando arcilla Kato debido a la dureza y también el color.
La gente demostró grandes habilidades, motivación y algunas de ellas un trabajo perfeccionista que me sorprendió en el buen sentido. Encontré mucha creatividad allí, para algunas personas era la primera vez que acudían a un evento de estas características y estaban ansiosos por aprender, algo que me motiva especialmente.
¡El evento también tuvo algunas sorpresas agradables para los asistentes! Una rifa con una gran cantidad de materiales relacionados con la arcilla polimérica, incluyendo productos de LucyClayTools; además de algunos pequeños regalos cuyo interior era misterioso y lleno de creatividad. ¡La gente salió del hotel con un equipaje más pesado del que trajeron!
Pero lo más importante de este evento fue que no era solo un evento, sino una experiencia; pasamos tiempo juntos, profesores y asistentes cenando, hablando y conociéndonos, Fue muy divertido! Y como dije, totalmente de acuerdo con la perspectiva de Suzzane y Suzzie, el objetivo de este tipo de eventos está relacionado con el hecho de vivir una experiencia que emplea el mundo de la arcilla como nexo de unión.
Si nunca has estado en Australia, es posible que nunca entiendas por qué mucha gente habla tan bien desde este país. No es sólo por lo próspera que es Australia; es también y me atrevo a decir, especialmente, debido a la gente. Coloquialmente conocidos como Aussies, los australianos son amables, dispuestos a ayudar en cualquier momento, muy abiertos y cercanos. Sé con seguridad que esta experiencia no habría sido la misma si no fuera por la gente australiana, 👏¡GRACIAS!👏
Si estás pensando en visitar un país nuevo y especial, Australia es una opción totalmente recomendable. Nunca se sabe, tal vez incluso puedas asistir a algún evento como este en el futuro y compartir una fantástica experiencia con algunos de nosotros!
Para terminar, queremos hacer un reconocimiento especial a Suzzane y Susannah Ward por invitarnos a este evento y hacernos formar parte de él, nos sentimos muy orgullosos de ello. Y también a Suzzane por invitarnos a su granja, donde pasamos unos días especiales con su familia.
Muchas gracias también a Jennifer Courignton que nos proporcionó un montón de arcilla Premo para el evento y especialmente para la clase ‘Paleta de Colores'. La gente se sorprendió de las posibilidades que tiene la arcilla Premo, mezclando y creando nuevos tonos de color que combinados nos permiten crear piezas espectaculares, gracias Jennifer y Polyform(https://www.facebook.com/PolyformProducts/) por vuestro apoyo.
La próxima semana compartiremos otro post con nuestra experiencia en la granja de Suzzane. Ella amablemente nos invitó a pasar unos días descansando y conociendo el campo y también el estilo de vida australiano en su granja cerca de Geraldton.
También la próxima semana publicaremos algunos cuadernos con dibujos donde recojo la inspiración de la que me empapé viajando a este espectacular país. ¡Inspiración que plasmaré en arcilla también algún día!😊

At last we are ready to share with all of you our fantastic experience in Australia!! 🥳
My son and I were invited to attend the event Polymer Clay Carnival in Fremantle (Western Australia) from 16 to 18 of August; organized by the lovely and hard workers Suzanne Ward and Susannah Ward, owners of -2Wards Polymer Clay-https://www.facebook.com/2wardspolymerclay/.
We stayed at the Rydges Esplanade Hotel, a nice classical appearance hotel in front of a beautiful park with a big wheel from which you can see the views of the port and beaches of Fremantle while you breathe some fresh marine air from the Indian Ocean and feel the remoteness of this amazing country (if you do it at sunset is just special).
The three days event was celebrate in two huge conference rooms inside the hotel, putted together so there was plenty of space for all the teachers and also a shop courtesy of Suzzane and Suzzie where you can find any product you may need or even imagine! A lot of interesting stuff all about clay and crafts products.
There was a catering that covered the whole event so teachers and attendees never run out of coffee, tea and small sweet & salt meals that helped to keep on track, working and learning during the day.
Was the first time an event like that is celebrated in Western Australia so people were really happy to be there and share the experience together. Can imagine the excitement of having artists not only from Australia but also from another countries participating; artists like…

And me, the only Spanish teacher that was lucky to be there!😁
I was teaching three different techniques that required different clay because of the essence of each one, with the help of my son that was translating and helping me out during the classes (he also made the video!):
Mostly about colors and designs. Using Premo clay because of the colors.
About nature and autumn season. Using Cernit clay because of the flexibility.
About my personal inspiration and feeling about what music is. Using Kato clay because of the stiffness and also the color.
People demonstrate skills, motivation and some of them a perfectionist job that surprised me in a good way. I found a lot of creativity over there, for some people was the first time in an event of this characteristics and they were eager to learn, something that specially motivates me.
The event had also some nice surprises for the attendees! A raffle with a lot of arts and crafts materials including products of LucyClayTools were giving away together with some small mysterious gifts. People left the hotel with a heavier luggage than they came!
But the most important thing about this event was that it was not only an event it was an experience. We spend some time together, teachers and attendees having dinner in some restaurants around talking and knowing each other, and it was fun! And a as I said, I totally agree with Suzzane and Suzzie perspective, the point of this kind of event is about to live a whole experience with clay as a link.
If you have never been in Australia you may never get why a lot of people speak so well from this country. It is not only because of how prosperous Australia is; it is also and I dare to say, especially, because of the people. Colloquially known as Aussies, Australian people are friendly, willing to help any moment, very open and easy to talk with. We know for sure that this experience would’ve not been the same if it wasn’t for Australian people, THANK YOU!👏
If you are thinking about visit a new and special country, Australia is definitely your choice. You never know, maybe you will even attend some event like this one in the future and share some nice experience with all of us! We highly recommend traveling to Australia, that’s for sure!
To end we want to do a special recognition to Suzzane and Susannah Ward for inviting us to this event and let us know to be a part of it, we feel very proud of it. And also for letting Suzzane stayed at her farm and spend some special days with her family.
Big thank you also for the help Jennifer Courignton provided us getting plenty of Premo clay for the event and specially for the class `Color Palette ´ I taught. People were astonished about the possibility that Premo has, mixing and creating new color tones that combined let us create spectacular pieces, thank you Jennifer and Polyform(https://www.facebook.com/PolyformProducts/) for your support.
Next week we will share another post about our experience in Suzzane´s farm. She kindly invited us to spend some days resting and knowing the country side and also the Australian way of life at her farm near to Geraldton. We had so much fun with Suzzane and her lovely family. Also next week we will post some notebooks with drawings where I reflected the inspiration I got traveling to this spectacular country that Australia is. Inspiration that rounds out my imagination about claying too! Hope you will like it!!😊
